medical updates

Good news to share on many fronts. First, the cat scan on Mom's neck showed the vertabrae has healed and the neck brace doesn't have to be on all the time, but only during certain rehab sessions and in the wheel chair sitting up. As she gains strength in the neck area, she'll be able to take it off completely. I'm sure she would like to have a small bonfire.

Second, Mom is on a regular diet for the most part. She just has to make sure that she chews thoroughly and clears her mouth and throat before taking another bite. Mom has been requesting contraband of ice cream varieties, especially mint chocolate chip. Wegmans just came out with rasberries. I picked up a 1/2 pint which were devoured in a couple of minutes.

Third, Mom has been moved to another rehab center, St Camillus. Address: 813 Fay Rd, Syracuse, NY. The website is www.st-camillus.org She is progressing nicely. It is here that we will get a good idea over the next couple of months of just what Mom will be capable of doing. Pray for continued healing regarding the infection and spirit of strength and sound mind. She has a single room with a window looking west. The room colors are a throw back to the early 70's, but some pictures and decorating should help. The staff seemed friendly and energetic.

We are limiting visitation still due to the infection being present and to let Mom get acclimated to her new surroundings and personnel. Soon, we will have a phone for Mom and will give out that number when finalized. It will be a cell phone in her room. We will post appropriate times to call during the week so as to not interrupt her nap time and the making of unneccessary calls with her being away from her room.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.

To the whole Skeele family, What great news. Praise God for His healing powers and for giving Connie the strength and will power to do what she needs to do to continue to heal. I really miss her and look forward to the time when I can visit. In the meantime please give her a hug for me, and give her my love. Thanks, Jean
