medical updates

Mom is getting acclimated with her new accomodations and personnel. She certainly isn't content which is good in that it motivates her to work hard to eventually come home. With the brain injury, there is still apparent confusion, high anxiety levels and frustrations Mom continues to deal with daily. Her speech is more consistant though slow and slurred. Formulating sentences does take more cognitive thought in organizing the words into speech and more noticable at times than others. Therapy on the left hand and arm has produced little improvement but some. The pain in this area seems to be more managable for Mom. She complains about hip pain when sitting up for more than an hour. Her walking is coming along. Much assistance is still being given with this therapy though. All in all, Mom progresses s l o w l y , but there is progress.

She welcomes your phone calls from 6-8pm weekdays, Saturday afternoons and Sundays. Don't expect the conversations to be very long or having alot of chatter. Be patient when there is dead air. She may be formulating her words.

Her time at St. Camillus is still undetermined though summer seems to be an expectation of her moving on....either home or another facility that could be of more assistance. Attending Dan's wedding is a long shot, but isn't an impossibility as of now. In the weeks to come, Mom will be able to retreat from the center for a few hours to stretch her horizons preparing her for coming home. Going to the Zoo or other attractions are possible trips. We will be organizing these with those interested when Mom gets the green light in a month or so maybe.

FYI....we have another website for Mom if interested where Mom talks about herself some.... www.connieskeele.com
