medical updates

After 12 days, I finally was able to visit Mom. The one thing obvious to me was that she was more alert with her eyes and able to focus when being spoken to. She's doesn't focus like you or I can when being spoken to but alot better than 12 days ago. She did not respond to commands like wriggle your toes or fingers. She may have understood the command and thought she was moving them but her brain may not be able to effectively tell the toes or fingers to move. We just don't know right now. We may not for months or more.

She goes for about 5-6 hrs off the ventilator completely and then put back on to have her rest. This has been going on for about 5 days or so. There is movement of extremities but it's responding to discomfort or just stretching. Mom does enjoy being read to because her blood pressure dropped by 9 and rose again when I left as I viewed the monitor in the hallway when leaving. Summary and comments of chapter 2 of "The Purpose Driven Life" will be posted tomorrow hopefully.

Our main concerns for the short term: Getting off the ventilator completely, low blood pressure and her having a positive attitude and hope now that she is more aware of things and possibly her situation, perserverance for those praying for Mom daily.

Long term concerns: Being able to use her motor skills and being placed at a rehab center in the Syracuse area near by.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Mom continues to have impact in people's lives. Today, two nurses commented on how much they enjoy her CDs and praise tapes. They had never heard contemporary Christian music before I think. They commented on how it's different but very enjoyable to listen to looking forward to coming in and looking in on Mom.

Hi Shawn,

I have been reading your updates on your Mum tonight, and I feel wonderful that God's spirit exists so deeply in you, your family, friends, and others (and your mum!), enabling such good friendship, support and love. I would dearly love to be with you and you mum at this difficult time (even though I don't know you), but as I am on the other side of the world (UK), I will have to make do with this medium. I am going to ask everyone I know who is at all spiritually minded to pray for your mum in some way, and to also pray for you as you seem to be doing so much work. Don't forget to take care of yourself, ok? Also, It would be great to see a picture of Connie, so that I can see who I am praying for.

With love and prayers,

Helen, UK

Shawn,

Please pass on to the rest of the family, that we are very thankful to you especially for your updates on Connie. We want to be part of her healing, and want the family to know that we care about them and pray for their strength to stay strong and to know that God hears their prayers as well as all of the prayers of the people who have signed the prayer log. I am sure there are others, who have not signed the prayer log that are praying for Connie daily, if not hourly. We have asked for prayers in our church in Camillus and I discovered that one of our parishoners works at the hospital and is a phlebotomist that has been helping to take care of Connie since she was admitted. We continue to pray for Gods' healing power to be with Connie, and we pray for God to be with the rest of the family, to keep them well and to give them the Grace and Strength to continue with what needs to be done. May Gods' Blessings be with all of you, always.

Good news that you were able to visit, Shawn, Good, too, that you noted improvement. IN HIS TIME...which is very hard for us mortals to deal with. Jean W. visited today and said Connie's eyes were open the whole time and she was moving her arms and legs. Jean feels very strongly that Connie knew she was ther. PTL Perhaps things are looking up at last. Prayers will be strong in the morning, as the meeting takes place. Good news about the respirator. Praying diligently that she will beat it and be able to remain here in the area. Take care of each other, and yourselves. Love and prayers, Bonnie & Bruce

Dear Superpych

We are work on the picture and hope to have something up in a week or so. I'm new to this website stuff and not sure if this particular low budget website provides the capability. If it doesn't, we will consider another site that does. Thank you for your prayers and any others that pray to God the Father of Jesus Christ. It will not only be a blessing to Mom and us, but for those praying. Anything that draws us to the Father will benefit oneself, family and community. God bless you.
