Hopefully, tomorrow I will be telling you the website address. It will be updated around this time each night.

Mom needed some rest today. Yesterday was apparently too much for her. She breathed mostly on her own for about 12 hours. This alone was a shock to the doctors that made them question whether the tracheotomy was going to be necessary. I think they will take a slower approach with the hope of removing the respirator late this week. If they can't, they will then have to make a decision on doing the tracheotomy. Her vital signs were better today also. She is given the morphine in various doses depending on Mom communicating with facial expressions and vital signs that indicate pain or discomfort. Tomorrow, they will slowly wean her from the respirator.

Concern: Around 7:30pm last night, Mom's heart rate raced up to 140. These occurrences are sporadic and puzzling to the doctors because I can't get a straight forward answer as to why. After "grilling" one doctor tonight, she speculated about the electrical impulses of the heart and if the bruising of the organ from the accident may have affected these electrical impulses. I was assured they had nothing to do with communication to the brain and it affecting those impulses.

Pray specifically for Mom's strength and her getting off the respirator. Also, that wisdom would be granted to the doctor's regarding the sporadic heart rate.

Leslie, the doctor, did stress to me that the strength and resilience of Mom yesterday was very encouraging to her and that considering the aftermath of her accident, they are very pleased with Mom's physical recovery.

Again, thank you. Words via this medium just doesn't do justice. We will try to be more mindful to those of you we meet regularly and by phone. My apologies if we missed getting you on the daily update. Soon, that won't be an issue with the website.
